What OCR is
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) reads the letters in a photo or scanned page and turns them into text you can copy, edit and search. It saves retyping notices, notes, receipts and old documents – in English and Hindi.

Google Lens on a phone (fastest)
- Open the Google app (or camera) → tap the Lens icon.
- Point at the page, or pick a photo from the gallery.
- Tap Text, then select the lines you need → Copy.
- Signed in on Chrome with the same Google account? Choose Copy to computer and paste on your PC.
- Translate on the same screen converts Hindi ↔ English instantly.
Many pages: Google Drive
- Upload the scanned PDF or JPG/PNG to Google Drive.
- Right-click → Open with → Google Docs.
- The image appears at the top and the recognised text below. Copy or edit it, or download as Word.
On Windows 11 without a phone
- Press Win + Shift + S and capture the area with text (a PDF page, an image, a video frame).
- Click the notification to open it in Snipping Tool.
- Click Text actions → Copy all text (or select part of it). You can also use Quick redact to hide emails/phone numbers before sharing.
Get better results
- Good light, no shadow of your phone; hold it parallel to the page.
- Fill the frame with the text and keep it in focus; avoid zoom.
- Printed text works far better than handwriting.
- For Hindi, check matras (ि/ी, ु/ू) and conjuncts – OCR errors are common there.
- Proof-read numbers: 0/O, 1/l/I, 5/S, 8/B are often confused.

Phone पर Google Lens (सबसे तेज़)
- Google app (या camera) खोलें → Lens icon पर tap करें।
