Why Cyber Safety Matters
Today we do almost everything on our phones — banking, shopping, chatting, studying. That is why cheats (fraudsters) also target phones. The good news: most online fraud can be stopped by a few simple habits. You do not need to be a tech expert.
- Fraudsters trick you into sharing secret information (OTP, PIN) or clicking a fake link.
- They create fear or greed — "your account will close", or "you won a prize".
- Once you know their tricks, they cannot fool you.
Most Common Online Scams (and How to Stay Safe)
📱 1. OTP Fraud
Someone calls pretending to be from your bank and asks for the OTP you just received "to verify" or "to stop a problem". The moment you tell them, money leaves your account.
💳 2. UPI / Payment Scam
You get a "request money" notification but are told it is to receive money. If you enter your PIN, money goes out, not in. Remember: you never need a PIN to receive money.
📧 3. Phishing (Fake Links)
A message or email with a link that looks like your bank, a delivery company or a reward. It opens a fake page that steals your login or card details.
🎁 4. Fake Prize / Lottery
"You won ₹10 lakh! Pay a small fee to claim." Real prizes never ask you to pay first. This is always a trap.
📸 5. Fake Customer Care Number
You search a company's helpline on Google and call a number that is actually a fraudster's. They then guide you to install an app or share details.
📲 6. Screen-Sharing App Trap
They ask you to install a "helper" app (like AnyDesk) so they can "fix" an issue. Really, they watch your screen and steal your OTP and passwords.

Cyber Safety
📱 1. OTP Fraud
💳 2. UPI / Payment Scam
Lottery
Customer Care Number
📲 6. Screen-Sharing App
