Basic Setup for Online Exam or Quiz

Build a quiz in Google Forms

  1. forms.google.com → Blank form → ⚙ Settings → Make this a quiz ON.
  2. Responses: Collect email addresses (Verified) and Limit to 1 response (students sign in with Google).
  3. First section: Name, Class, Roll No. as Required short-answer questions.
  4. Add questions; for each click Answer key → mark the correct option and points; add feedback for wrong answers.
  5. Settings → Presentation: Shuffle question order; in each MCQ ⋮ → Shuffle option order.
  6. Release marks: Later, after manual review for exams, Immediately for practice.

Make it fair

  • Use sections so students see 5–10 questions per page.
  • Mix question types: MCQ, checkbox, short answer, “choose the correct order”.
  • Ask application questions (“Which formula gives…?”) rather than pure definitions that can be searched quickly.
  • Time window: open and close the form manually (Responses → Accepting responses OFF) – Forms has no built-in timer.
  • On school-managed Chromebooks, Locked mode blocks other tabs during the quiz.

Test before the real exam

  1. Preview (eye icon) and submit as a test student.
  2. Check the score, answer key and feedback.
  3. Delete the test response (Responses → ⋮ → Delete all responses).
  4. Share the link via Classroom/WhatsApp with clear start and end times and what to do if the internet drops.

Results and analysis

Responses → Link to Sheets creates a sheet with every answer and score. Use Summary to see the most-missed questions and re-teach them. Use the school result formulas for grades and ranks.

Google Forms में quiz बनाएँ

  1. forms.google.com → Blank form → ⚙ Settings → Make this a quiz ON।
  2. Responses: Collect email addresses (Verified) और Limit to 1 response (students Google से sign in करते हैं)।
  3. पहला section: Name, Class, Roll No. – Required short-answer सवाल।
  5. Settings → Presentation: Shuffle question order; हर MCQ में ⋮ → Shuffle option order।
  6. Release marks: exams के लिए Later, after manual review, अभ्यास के लिए Immediately।

  2. Score, answer key और feedback जाँचें।
  3. Test response delete करें (Responses → ⋮ → Delete all responses)।

Results

Responses → Link to Sheets

Can Google Forms have a timer?

Not built in. Open and close responses manually, or use a school-approved add-on; Locked mode on managed Chromebooks helps prevent tab switching.

How do I stop students submitting twice?

Turn on Limit to 1 response in Settings → Responses. Students must sign in with a Google account.

How do students see their marks?

Choose Release marks “Immediately” or, after checking, click Release score in the Responses tab.
