7 golden rules that stop most frauds
- Never tell anyone an OTP, UPI PIN, CVV or password – no bank, police or company ever asks for them.
- You enter a UPI PIN only to send money, never to receive it.
- Do not tap links in unexpected SMS, WhatsApp or email; open the official app or type the address yourself.
- Never install screen-sharing apps (AnyDesk, TeamViewer) or .apk files because a caller asked.
- Use a different long password for every important account and turn on 2-step verification.
- Real jobs, prizes and refunds never ask you to pay a fee first.
- Urgency and fear (“account blocked”, “digital arrest”) are the scammer’s main tools – pause and verify on an official number.
