Google Lens for Students: Search, Translate and Copy Text

How students can use Google Lens to search a question from a photo, translate a textbook page and copy printed text to notes — with tips for honest, effective use.

Where to find Google Lens

  • Android: Google app search bar → Lens icon; camera app (many phones); Google Photos → Lens; Circle to Search on supported phones (long-press the home bar).
  • iPhone: Google app → Lens icon.
  • Computer: Chrome → right-click an image or page → Search with Google Lens.

7 smart uses for students

UseHowExample
Copy text from a bookLens → Text → select → Copy / Copy to computerCopy a definition into your notes
TranslateLens → Translate (works with Hindi)Read an English notice in Hindi
ListenText → ListenHear the pronunciation of a paragraph
Understand a maths/science problemLens → HomeworkSee related explanations and similar solved examples
Identify plants, birds, monumentsPoint the camera → SearchBiology project on local trees
Find an image sourceLens on a photo → Find image sourceCheck if a viral photo is old – see reverse image search
Scan to calendar/contactsPoint at a poster or visiting cardAdd the exam date to Calendar

Use it to learn, not to copy

Lens can show answers to homework questions, but copying them does not help in exams where you must solve alone. A better routine: try the question first, then use Lens to check the method, then solve a similar question without help.

Search results can be wrong or for a different syllabus. Always match the answer with your NCERT/board textbook and your teacher’s method.

Make digital notes faster

  1. Use Lens → Text → Copy to computer to paste textbook lines into Google Docs (same Google account in Chrome).
  2. Add your own explanation below each copied line – this is where real learning happens.
  3. For full pages, use the Google Drive scanner or OCR methods.
  4. Save notes in Google Keep or Docs with clear titles – see Google Keep.

Privacy

Images you search with Lens are processed by Google and can be saved in your Google activity (myactivity.google.com, where you can delete them). Avoid scanning ID cards, bank details or other people’s private documents.

Google Lens

  • Android: Google app search bar → Lens icon; camera app (कई phones); Google Photos → Lens; supported phones पर Circle to Search (home bar देर तक दबाएँ)।
  • iPhone: Google app → Lens icon।
  • Computer: Chrome → image या page पर right-click → Search with Google Lens।

Digital notes

  1. Lens → Text → Copy to computer

Privacy
