Method 1: Microsoft Word (best for text PDFs)
- Open Word → File → Open → choose the PDF.
- Word shows: “Word will now convert your PDF to an editable Word document…” → OK.
- Check the layout: tables, columns and page breaks may shift slightly.
- File → Save As → Word Document (.docx) with a new name.
Method 2: Google Drive + Docs (free, also for scanned Hindi/English)
- Upload the PDF to drive.google.com.
- Right-click → Open with → Google Docs. Google runs OCR on scanned pages automatically.
- A new Doc opens with editable text (images on top, text below for scanned files).
- File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx).
- Formatting is simple (good for retyping effort, not for exact layout).
- Works with Hindi text in clear scans.
- Very large or many-page PDFs may convert only partly – split them first.
Method 3: LibreOffice (free, offline)
LibreOffice opens PDFs in Draw (good for small edits but every line becomes a separate text box). For a proper Word file from a text PDF, prefer Word or Google Docs. Advanced users can run soffice --infilter="writer_pdf_import" --convert-to docx file.pdf.
Method 4: Online converters
Adobe Acrobat online, iLovePDF and Smallpdf give good layouts and handle tables well. Read their limits (pages/day, file size) and delete the file from their site after downloading.

After converting: clean-up checklist
- Turn on formatting marks (¶) and remove extra line breaks.
- Check numbers, dates and Hindi matras – OCR often confuses 1/l, 0/O and ि/ी.
- Re-apply headings with Styles so the document is easy to edit later.
- Respect copyright – converting a book or paid notes does not give you the right to share them.

तरीका 1: Microsoft Word (text PDFs के लिए सबसे अच्छा)

तरीका 3: LibreOffice (मुफ़्त, offline)
