Mysql Installation
Installing MySQL
There are two easy ways to get MySQL running: install MySQL Server directly, or use XAMPP which bundles MySQL with phpMyAdmin — best for students and PHP projects.
Option 1: XAMPP (Easiest)
- Download XAMPP from apachefriends.org.
- Install it and open the XAMPP Control Panel.
- Click Start next to MySQL (and Apache).
- Open
http://localhost/phpmyadminto manage databases visually.
Option 2: MySQL Server
- Download MySQL Community Server from dev.mysql.com.
- Run the installer; set a root password (remember it!).
- Finish setup and verify in a terminal:
mysql -u root -pEnter your password to open the MySQL prompt.
Verify Installation
